Questions that usually come up before you start
If you are thinking about creating a kitchen with HOK, chances are some of these questions have already crossed your mind. And if yours is not here, ask us.
Before you start
We are a kitchen studio in Mallorca.
We start with an IKEA structure—modules, drawers, and hardware that work and have been thoroughly tested—and design everything that makes the kitchen yours: fronts, panels, finishing pieces, handles, colours, and finishes.
No. HOK is HOK.
We have no relationship with IKEA. We use METOD because we think it is a very good foundation for building a kitchen: it works, replacement parts are easy to find, and it lets us focus on the part that interests us most—designing everything you see and touch.
The fronts can be made from lacquered MDF, Fenix surface, or natural wood veneer.
We do not use vinyl or laminates. We choose each finish for how it looks, how it feels, and how it works day to day.
If it is METOD, almost certainly.
Before quoting anything, we review your kitchen, the measurements, and every piece. Better to check first than discover a surprise later.
Yes. And often it makes perfect sense.
If the modules are in good condition, there is no need to start from scratch. We can change fronts, panels, handles, and other visible elements, completely transforming the kitchen while making use of what you already have.

Colours and finishes
Of course. In fact, we prefer you to see them.
A colour on a screen and that same colour inside your kitchen can be two very different things.
If you are in Mallorca, we can view the samples with you at home, alongside your floor, your walls, and—most importantly—your light.
We only work with our carefully selected colour range.
They are two very different approaches to the handle.
With Yin, the handle is integrated into the front itself. It is carved in, disappears, and allows the kitchen to read almost as one continuous surface.
With Yang, the opposite happens. The handle projects outwards and becomes part of the design. We lacquer it in the same colour as the front so it stands out through its shape, not through a change of colour.
One goes in. The other comes out.
Design and pricing
No.
You can come with a finished IKEA planner project, a floor plan, some measurements, or simply a folder full of references.
We start wherever you are.
Tell us what your kitchen is like and what you have in mind.
If you already have measurements, photos, plans, or an IKEA project, send them over. If nothing is clear yet, that is fine too.
We can start with a call and shape it together.

In the first conversation, we also want to know what budget you have in mind. There is no point designing a kitchen that will not suit you afterwards.
Once the design is finalised, we prepare the definitive quote, with every item broken down.
We include our fronts, panels and handles, as well as the IKEA units and components, the worktop, appliances, tap, plumbing and the complete installation.
The idea is simple: you should not have to manage each part of the kitchen yourself. We take care of the whole project, from ordering the materials through to final installation.
And, of course, everything is itemised in the quote so you know exactly what is included, including the full installation cost.
Yes, in Mallorca.
Once the project starts taking shape, we can visit with you, check what is needed, and place the samples where they really matter: inside your kitchen.
Choosing a colour under the studio light is good. Choosing it under the light in your home is better.
Payment
In three parts:
50% when you accept the quote.
40% before installation.
10% once the kitchen has been installed.
Timing
Once the project is finalised and the quote accepted, allow approximately 4 to 6 weeks to manufacture and prepare the kitchen.
That is separate.
Some projects are finalised very quickly, while others need a few rounds. We would rather spend a little more time making a good decision than rush and regret it later.
The 4–6 weeks begin once the project is finalised and you approve the quote.
Usually around two or three days.
It depends on the size and particular details of each kitchen, and we will confirm it before starting.
Tell us from day one.
If there is a move, building work, a tenancy beginning, or a date that simply cannot move, we plan the project backwards and tell you when each decision needs to be finalised.
No impossible last-minute promises.
Installation and worktop
Not necessarily.
If the service is part of your project, we manage the order and coordinate everything so the different pieces arrive when they need to.
Our installers.
They arrive with a clear project, install the kitchen, and collect the packaging when they finish.
The worktop has its own moment.
First, we install the kitchen. It is then measured over the modules already in place, and a specialist manufactures and installs the worktop.
It is another trade, but we can coordinate with them ourselves.
One less call for you.
We can use IKEA appliances or, if you prefer to change them, we also have our own supplier.
Once you have your HOK
Nothing complicated.
Use a soft, slightly damp cloth and then dry them.
Avoid abrasive products, solvents, and excess water. They do not need much more.
Outside Mallorca
HOK was born, designs, manufactures, and installs in Mallorca.
