We wanted our first kitchen to feel genuinely personal and genuinely Mediterranean: fresh, full of light and connected to its setting in Porto Cristo. We started from an IKEA METOD base in a parallel layout of 4.20 linear metres, with the sink run facing the cooking run. On top of that structure we designed and made everything you can see, in Mallorca: fronts, panels and trims. The main challenge was the fridge column, standing right beside the entrance door. Its bulk closed off the passage visually and made the kitchen feel heavier than we wanted. To solve it, we chose to make it almost disappear: we lacquered its upper section in Cal, matching the extractor. The two-colour scheme also came out of a constraint in the room itself, an existing fixed extractor we had to work with. Rather than hide it, we brought it into the design and made it part of the kitchen character. For the rest we chose Grama, a yellow that adds warmth and personality. The contrast between the two colours let us balance the composition and turn an initial limitation into one of the most distinctive details of the project. The T6 handle is integrated into the edge of the front, with no visible hardware, and the worktop is an IKEA Lockebo. The kitchen was completed in July 2026. The result is a warm, summery, distinctive kitchen, where the light, the wood and the colour keep bringing the Mediterranean back into the room.
